As we approach Halloween this year, many of us are thinking about how to celebrate this year in the face of the pandemic. For school leaders and teachers, recognition of holidays and school-based celebrations can feel challenging even without the added pressures of the pandemic. In this webinar, we will explore how and why we recognize major holidays, including religious holidays, in school. We will discuss key questions about why we celebrate, how we recognize holidays, and how we ensure that we create inclusive learning environments for each and every student. With a focus on local context, we will discuss how the recognition of holidays and cultural celebrations can create a deeper sense of belonging for all students. As you think about your school or district, it is important to consider how you will share your goals with students and families. What concerns should you be prepared to respond to? How will you share your message? The discussion will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A.
